ITV CReates

2021-2022

Sharon was the first artist to showcase her work on ITV Creates in 2021, as part of an ongoing project that reflects TV's commitment to creativity. ITV have shared their platform with a wide range of British artists, by inviting them to share their interpretation of the channel's logo.

With their new focus on collaboration TV Creates initiative, Sharon collaborated with award-winning landscape gardener, Mark Lane, who was awarded 'Landscape Designer of the Year 2020'. The aim of this collaboration was to unite two completely different worlds to come together to create their own interpretation of the TV logo.

The final piece involved a large-scale reworking of Sharon's hand-assembled paper collages, which celebrate black women. The floral portrait was then enlarged onto a sustainable and recycled material, before being installed at Fullers Mill Garden, near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

Both creatives are from marginalised communities, thus their re-invention of the TV logo transcends beyond its visual qualities. The project additionally highlights the power in blackness, the ability in disability, and the diversity of both.
